Inside an ordinary teashop in Gainsborough three fellow travellers had stopped off for a cup of tea and a slice of cake.
The Doctor, as the eldest of the trio liked to be known, insisted on sipping his tea out of the saucer. This annoyed Steven who considered it unhygienic but both Dodo's grandmothers used to do it; it was just an odd quirk to her.
The tea shop itself was populated by the usual types one might expect. A honeymooning couple, a couple who let their four children run around shouting and the local gamekeeper.
Their ship, the TARDIS, had been left in the middle of a field of spring barley and they had had to trek through the damp crop to the village. Dodo was sure a dormouse had tried to bite her but the Doctor insisted it was just a stick.
Eventually they finished their repast and payed the bill. They found the TARDIS inside the middle of a huge pattern of circles and lines.
"Look Doctor, did the TARDIS do all this?"
"Hmmm, yes. The ship sometimes does this if she's bored. It's a symbol from my own people. It is the seal of one of our greatest leaders in fact, Rassilon."
"I suppose whoever finds this is in for a bit of a surprise." Steven laughed. "I remember my history lessons from this time. They didn't half come up with some weird ideas. Some people thought they were caused by air bubbles from a giant space fish!"
"For all your scepticism Steven I thought you would have a more open mind. I have seen stranger creatures than those of who you speak. I, suppose we should be off, that is to say we should go my boy."
The trio entered the blue police box shaped ship and soon it vanished off the face of the Earth, leaving a mystery behind for others to puzzle over until the crop was harvested.
